Norwegian project Skolelinux is the winner of the first Free Software Scandinavian Award handed out at during the Free Software Conference Scandinavia 2007 in Göteborg friday 2007-12-07.

Skoleliux receives 450.000,- NOK of funding!| written by:

Free software in schools Norway, the Debian Edu local organization in Norway along with the municipality of Hurum, the University of Agder and others has received a funding of 450.000,- for 2008 by the Norwegian Ministry of Government Administration and Reform (FAD) to further develop the Skolelinux-distribution.
The Minister cited the high-held goals of the project - creating a common ground to foster knowledge and education among pupils; and sharing the software created under open licenses as primary reasons for the funding decision.

The Debian Edu project has
released version 3.0r1 of the Custom Debian Distribution (CDD) Skolelinux. This 3.0r1 release of Skolelinux includes many updated features along with an extensive list of bug-fixes to make this the most complete free software distribution for educational use in recent years. A complete

The next release of the Custom Debian Distribution (CDD) Skolelinux from the Debian-edu-team dubbed 'Terra' is due to be released the following week. This 3.0 release of Skolelinux includes many new features along with great many new contributions to make this the most complete free software distribution for educational use in recent years. Watch this space for more as the release draws near.

On the 1st of June developers of Skolelinux are gathering to work on the project. Currently six of the main developers have signed up for this gathering and others are in the pipeline.
