Getting Started: Hints

To use the Linux Live CD, you must start the computer from CD. All programs are run from the CD, and nothing will be installed on your hard disk.

• On older machines, it may be necessary to change the BIOS, such that the CD starts before the hard disk.
• On newer machines, you may need to press F8 or F12 and choose "Start from CD" from the menu.
• If you have a newer laptop, and you have difficulties when starting from CD, type failsafe when the computer starts and the word boot: appears at the bottom of the screen.
