Screen Resolution |
If you want a better screen resolution than the default (1024x768), you must start Snøfrix with a boot option. For example, if your monitor + graphics card support a screen resolution of 1600x1200, write
knoppix screen=1600x1200
when the computer starts, and the word boot: appears at the bottom of the screen. The most common resolutions are:
| 1600x1200 | 1400x1050 | 1280x1024 | 1152x864 | 1024x768 | 800x600 | 640x480 |
Older monitors/graphic cards will not even support 1024x768 screen resolution. In this case, you must write:
knoppix screen=800x600
Otherwise, when the initial text has been written to the screen, and the computer prepares the Graphical User Interface (GUI), the screen will only flicker, without producing a coherent image.
You can save the situation by simultaneously pressing the following three keys: Ctrl Alt + where + refers to the keypad on the right side of the keyboard. Every time you press this combination, the screen resolution goes down one step in the above table. You can go back up again with the combination Ctrl Alt - where - again refers to the keypad on the right side of the keyboard.
